Job Description


The Administrative Nurse I for Gynecology, Oncology and Ophthalmology is responsible for assisting with clinical management and administrative coordination of the unit. The position includes a combination of clinical (direct patient care) and administrative responsibilities. Under the direction of the Unit Director, the AN I is responsible for consistent adherence to organizational policies and unit standards. The AN I is responsible for knowledge and application of all personnel policies and requirements of the collective bargaining agreements. The AN I will assist the Unit Director in promoting the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the unit. The AN I will participate in the staff performance evaluation process. The AN I participates in the cost effective allocation of resources. AN I will collaborate with the CNS to identify educational needs and implement evidence based practices. AN I will identify own professional development needs and seek appropriate resources to accomplish them. The AN I is responsible for the operations of the department during their shift including case scheduling, staffing and environmental management. The AN I is the resource for all staff on site and on call.


Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current RN license for the state of California. Ability to clearly read, write and speak English. Skill in communicating and conducting self appropriately and professionally. Ability to effectively function in the professional role of scrub and circulating nurse. Ability to work within the guidelines established by the organizational structure. Ability to work effectively and efficiently orient/cross-train nursing staff. Working/reference knowledge of Medical Center and Department policies, procedures and standards. Skill in implementing the nursing process and address patient care and operational needs. Skill in demonstrating sincere support for the Medical Center, Department and Operating Room Services Mission, Vision and Values. Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychological needs of specific patient populations. 

2 years or greater experience in Gynecology and Oncology. Ability to Scrub and Circulate required. BSN degree required.
